Report says Jason Aldean is suing ‘The View’ for $40 million. Is he really?

The newest chapter in the Jason Aldean controversy over on Elon Musk’s social platform is a report that the country music star is suing Whoopi Goldberg and “The View”.

“I’m no racist,” a screenshot of the headline being circulated over on X reads.

One very big problem with all that: the source.

Sadly, The Dunning-Kruger Times, a website that clearly states that it is a “network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery,” has hit another home run when it comes to pumping out junk news that folks have taken and run with.

Fact checking the report takes about three seconds of reading on the site, but that is three seconds too much, apparently, for so many people on social media. You can see the story, here. You can check out the site’s “About Us” section where it explains it is satire, here.

And this isn’t a one-off for The Dunning-Kruger Times. It has found great success feeding these satire pieces to folks who don’t care to check the source. It’s probably a pretty good indication that we are in trouble as a society.

Anyway, this latest hit for the site claims that Aldean is suing the view for a whopping $40 million. If the story sounds familiar it’s because “The View” and Golderg have been a popular target for satire sites. Just last year, a site called “USA Taters” had a report that “The View” was forced to pay Kyle Rittenhouse $22 million following a lawsuit. That also spun around and around and around social media, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see someone out there still passing that off as a fact.

It wasn’t a fact. This latest story isn’t, either.

It’s possible Aldean could sue “The View” someday. Seems like people can sue for just about anything these days, but, again, the headline being shared is clearly from a satire site.

As for Aldean, as the controversy around his “Try That In A Small Town” music video continued to swirl, he stopped off in Hershey Friday for a concert.
